Dr Lamarche trained in Cardiac Surgery at the Université de Montréal after obtaining a Medical Doctorate in the same university. His training was completed by a dual fellowship in Critical Care Medicine and in Surgery at the University of British Columbia. He also obtained a Master in biomedical science focusing on pulmonary hypertension after cardiopulmonary bypass and the use of inhaled pulmonary vasodilators in the perioperative period. His main clinical interests are systems of perioperative care for high-risk patients, simulation in the critical care setting, mechanical cardiac support and heart failure surgery. He is a founding member and president of the Canadian Cardiovascular Critical Care Society (CANCARE Society). He collaborated on more than 80 peer-reviewed publications on national and international projects through grants from the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation, the Université de Montréal and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
