John Myburgh is Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the University of New South Wales and Director of the Division of Critical Care at the George Institute for Global Health, Sydney.
He has been a practicing intensive care physician for the last 35 years and is a leading clinician-researcher having conducted over 35 clinical trials in Intensive Care Medicine.
He is a foundation member and past-chair of the ANZICS Clinical Trials Group and Past-President of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.
His areas of scientific expertise include catecholamine pharmacology, traumatic brain injury, fluid resuscitation, endocrine function in critical illness, sepsis and clinical trial methodology.
He is committed to the integrity of science, open-access education, improving public health and diversity.
In his other life, he is a devoted Dad, rows every morning down Middle Harbour and plays the blues guitar quite badly.
