Dr. Tyler Smith
Following his residency training in hematopathology, Dr. Smith completed a fellowship in Thrombosis and Hemostasis under the supervision of Dr. Agnes Lee, director of the Vancouver General Hospital Thrombosis Program. Since 2013, Dr. Smith has been a staff hematopathologist at Vancouver General Hospital, a level I trauma centre that is also the provincial adult bone marrow transplant centre. Dr. Smith’s primary area of interest is hospital laboratory coagulation testing and its role in assisting patient care. He played a leading role in a multidisciplinary working group that created a model of laboratory-based rotational thromboelastometry (Rotem®) to help guide transfusion practice in high acuity patients at VGH.
